![]() ![]() Unless the Lord returns, everyone who is alive today will die, and the vast majority of them (Christians included) will die as the result of a physical problem (disease, sickness, injury). Sickness, disease, pain, and death are still realities in this world. And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him” ( 1 John 5:14-15). The apostle John gives us the proper perspective: “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. Sometimes it is God’s will to heal, but sometimes it is not. Sometimes people are physically healed when they place their faith in Christ, but this is not always the case. The Bible does not specifically link physical healing with spiritual healing. Therefore, being “healed” in both these verses is speaking of being forgiven and saved, not physically healed. The verse is talking about sin and righteousness, not sickness and disease. “He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness by his wounds you have been healed” ( 1 Peter 2:24). However, the contexts of Isaiah 53 and 1 Peter 2 make it clear that it is speaking of spiritual healing. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” The word translated “healed” can mean either spiritual or physical healing. Question: “What does the Bible say about healing?”Īnswer: Isaiah 53:5, which is then quoted in 1 Peter 2:24, is a key verse on healing, but it is often misunderstood and misapplied. I thank my Lord Jesus Christ for saving my life.First of all, let us take a look at the interpretation accepted by most non-charismatic evangelicals: I have since recovered and am keeping good health with my hemoglobin count back to normal. The surgery was successful, and the cyst was removed without causing any internal damage to the organs. My mother comforted herself with the knowledge that the presence of the Lord Jesus was with me during the surgery, and He would guide the hands of the doctors who were operating on me. She requested the doctor to place the cloth on my forehead during the surgery. Just before the surgery started, my mother remembered a prayer cloth that we had earlier obtained from the Voice of God Recordings and which was pinned to my clothing. Through this entire ordeal, my thoughts were only on the Lord Jesus Christ, and I kept confessing that by His stripes I was healed. But brothers and sisters who had gathered at the hospital and those at home kept me in prayer continuously. On reaching the hospital and undergoing further tests, the doctors informed that my condition was extremely critical, and I had to undergo surgery immediately to remove the cyst and the poisonous fluids that were spreading around.Ĭonsidering my extremely low hemoglobin count, surgery was very risky and the doctors prepared my family for the worst. However, it appeared as if there were angels clearing the way ahead for the ambulance, and we made it there in just 20 minutes. Due to some road construction work in route, and traffic literally crawling at some places, and the drive should have been even longer. It is usually a 40-minute drive to the state hospital. I had to be rushed to the main state hospital for treatment, and my mother and sister who were accompanying me, were told that I may not make it there.īy now my brothers and sisters in Christ were all in desperate prayer that the Lord will spare my life. An abdominal scan revealed a ruptured ovarian cyst. They did a blood test and found my hemoglobin count was just two. Checking me, he found my hemoglobin was very low and I was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital. After two days, when the pain started becoming unbearable, a doctor was called home. Attributing it to acidity, I took some home medication but the pain did not subside. I trust that it will encourage the Bride all over the world.Ī few months back I had continuous abdomen pain for a few days. I am 22 years old, and wish to share this testimony for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. We should give the credit to God, no matter how we receive our healing: doctors or miracles. We all know that the Lord heals through miracles, but we should also remember that He also heals through medicine. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes, we are healed.Isaiah 53:5 ![]()
